Antique ivory cotton Christening Gown Baby Dress has a lace bodice and plenty of hand stitching and beautiful hemstitching. Satin ribbon is threaded through lace at the neck, bodice and the cuffs of the puffed sleeves.
Could also be used as an amazing doll dress!
Measures, lying flat:
Pit-to-pit: 9.5 inches
Across shoulders: 8 inches
Width across bottom hem: 41 inches
Total length: 23 inches
Puffed sleeve length : 6.5 inches
The neck is slightly browned with age or body oils. I think it would launder up, but I did not want to presume what laundry product you might prefer to use.
There are a few brown spots on the body of the dress, as shown in photos.
The back does not fasten. I am not sure if this is original, or something has been removed. I am also not sure it is necessary that this dress be fastened, but you could add something, or fasten with a decorative pin or other closure.
What a special gift for a new grandbaby, or something to keep for your own collection.
