This antique Victorian era Ayrshire whitework embroidery baptismal dress christening gown dates from the late 19th century. It is made of a white cotton batiste fabric with Ayrshire whitework, intricately done hand embroidered satin stitch, beading stitch details, drawn thread cutwork floral leaf motif scrolling spiral designs. This beautiful baby baptismal dress christening gown has a long loose fitting full skirt, with a layered front top V yoke attached decorative bib overlay, scalloped ruffle trim edging, pleated details done the back top and bottom skirt, long sleeves with embellished rolled cuffs, tiny glass button closures on the back and is unlined. The gown measures 38 inches long, with a 26 inch chest, 60 inch waist, 60 inch hips, a 10 inch back, 10 inch neck, 9 inch long sleeves and is 4 inches wide across the arm hole openings. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a lovely piece of antique Victoriana whitework wearable art!
