Untitled DocumentVictorian Ayrshire Whitework Embroidery Pleated Christening Dress Fabric Fragment
This antique Victorian era Ayrshire whitework embroidery pleated christening dress fabric fragment dates from the late 19th century. It is made of a white cotton batiste fabric with Ayrshire whitework, hand embroidered satin stitch, beading stitch details, drawn thread cutwork and pleating. This beautiful baby baptismal dress christening gown fabric fragment remnant has been cut, missing the back and what remains is the front panel which has a long skirt, rounded scoop neckline, scalloped ruffle trim edging, pleated details and tiny mother of pearl buttons on the shoulders. The dress fabric front panel measures 48 inches long, 6 inches wide across the top and 19 inches wide across the bottom. It is in good as-is condition with some fraying, tiny holes and is great for upcycling. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable art!
